Residential Drafter

AutoCAD required · SketchUp and Revit preferred

Mark Lynn Design has a steady flow of residential work across Middle Tennessee. We are adding drafting capacity to keep that work moving. You will work across multiple drawing sets and revision cycles, with clear priorities and regular deadlines. You will turn design direction and marked-up plans into accurate, well-organized residential drawing sets. This role suits someone who enjoys the craft of drafting: steady production, careful details, clean files, and the satisfaction of finishing a set properly.

You will work in person from Mark Lynn’s Sunnywood office with the design team. Mark sets the design direction and reviews the work. You will own the drawing production assigned to you and keep it moving through revisions and completion.

What you will do

• Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans, foundation plans, and details in AutoCAD from approved direction.
• Work through redlines carefully, check that changes carry through the full set, and flag conflicting instructions before proceeding.
• Maintain consistent layers, blocks, dimensions, sheet layouts, and revision records.
• Check your own work before review, including dimensions, coordination between sheets, and completeness.
• Keep several assigned projects moving, communicate progress, and raise questions early when a deadline or detail needs attention.
• Record project time and keep drawing files organized so the team can pick up the work without reconstructing it.

What you will bring

• Experience preparing residential construction drawings in AutoCAD, with samples showing your own contribution.
• SketchUp and Revit experience is preferred; AutoCAD proficiency is required.
• An understanding of residential plans, elevations, sections, and basic construction details.
• Experience making revisions from marked-up drawings and checking the completed changes.
• Availability to work in person in Nashville.

Experience at a residential design firm, homebuilder, drafting service, or related construction business is helpful. We welcome applicants whose skills were developed through work, technical training, or a degree. If you are early in your career, show us the best set you have drawn and explain where you worked independently.

You should enjoy spending most of your day producing drawings and improving their accuracy. We value dependable follow-through, useful questions, and work that gets better with each review.

Interior Design Project Coordinator

Client experience & project follow-through

Mark Lynn Design has a steady flow of residential work across Middle Tennessee. We are adding capacity to give clients consistent attention as that work moves forward. Our Interiors team helps clients carry their home plans into the decisions and details that make a finished space. You will support multiple clients at different stages, keeping each person informed and each project moving from the first working meeting through final delivery. You will be the consistent point of contact who knows what has been decided, what comes next, and what needs attention.

This role combines client relationships with hands-on project coordination. You will guide clients through selections, organize the details behind those decisions, and follow through with the design team, vendors, and builders. The work takes patience, sound judgment, and a willingness to complete the small tasks that keep a project moving.

You will work in person from our Music Row studio. The design team provides creative direction; you will help translate it into an organized, responsive experience for each client.

What you will do

• Guide clients through the agreed interiors process, explain the next steps, and keep decisions moving at a comfortable but purposeful pace.
• Prepare for client meetings, capture decisions, and send clear recaps with responsibilities and dates.
• Coordinate finish and fixture selections, samples, schedules, and written client approvals with the design team.
• Maintain current selection records, budgets, open questions, and project timelines.
• Follow up with vendors and builders on pricing, availability, lead times, substitutions, and delivery details within the project’s scope.
• Explain the effect of a change on cost or timing and bring it to the appropriate team member for approval before commitments are made.
• Keep clients updated when something changes and stay with an issue until it has a clear resolution.
• Coordinate project closeout so outstanding decisions, deliveries, and final details are completed and documented.

What you will bring

• Experience supporting clients through residential interiors, homebuilding selections, kitchen and bath projects, or a comparable design and project coordination process.
• Examples of managing multiple active clients or projects through decisions and deadlines.
• Experience maintaining selection schedules, project records, budgets, or vendor follow-up.
• Familiarity with residential plans and specifications sufficient to coordinate with designers and builders.
• Comfort using spreadsheets, shared documents, and project or client management software.
• Availability to work in person in Nashville.

An interiors background and an eye for materials are valuable. So is the ability to explain a decision clearly, notice what is still unresolved, and follow through without repeated reminders. We welcome relevant practical experience as well as formal design education.
